Eyelash Extension After-Care Do's and Dont's

Your life could be changed with a brand-new, full pair of eyelash extensions! After getting your first set, you'll probably become addicted, therefore it's never too early to start learning how to take care of them.

If you follow these eyelash extension aftercare recommendations it will help you have a longer time to enjoy your lovely eyelashes.

Do’s and Don’ts Immediately After Your Eyelash Extension Service

1. Avoid getting your lash extensions wet

Within the first 48 hours, avoid taking a shower, washing your face, or getting your eyelash extensions wet. Water might have an impact on the glue, making the bond fragile and easy to break. This is similar to cooking a chicken from the outside when the skin is cooked while the center is frozen. In essence, water makes the lash bond weak and susceptible to breaking.

Best practice: When taking a shower, avoid placing your head directly under the strongest stream of water. Instead, let the water slide down your face. High-pressure water can break down the lash glue irreparably.

2. Avoid Moisture

Before adding any moisture to their eyelash extensions, wait 24 hours! Some clients find this to be a very long time to put off taking a hot shower, cooking on the stove, or exercising! But if you don’t stick by this rule you risk having your eyelash extensions nearly immediately fall out if water molecules are added to them too soon.

3. Clean your eyelash extension every three days

Don’t get the previous recommendation wrong, avoiding moisture and water does not mean not cleaning the lashes! It’s a classic rookie mistake.

We're frequently encouraged to believe that the less we touch and clean around, the better and longer our eyelash extensions will last. This is wrong, in fact, it’s entirely the opposite! If you don't wash your extensions after the first 48 hours, residue will start to accumulate around the lash line. Eye infections and other eye problems may result from this. Instead, you should clean your eyelash extensions every three days.

Best practice:
Clean it with a soft bristle brush and specialized cleaning foam. Adapting this habit helps to get rid of makeup, dust, and natural oils. This keeps any accumulations from pressing against your lashes and weakening the link which will prevent lash shedding before it is necessary.

How To Make Your Lash Extension Stay Longer?

1. Avoid touching or rubbing your lashes

It's possible to have a completely subconscious tendency to massage our eyes or touch our eyelash extensions. Doing so will result in the early loss of your eyelash extensions.

2. Avoid Oil Around Lashes

This aftercare advice for eyelash extensions is crucial. Oil-based products of ANY kind should be avoided. Many customers interpret this as "Okay, no more mascara made with oil... simple!" Well, that’s totally wrong, unfortunately. ALL oil-based cosmetics should be avoided by anyone wearing eyelash extensions since oil can cause the adhesive to fall off.

3. Avoid eyeliner and mascara for eyelash extensions

You go for the mascara and eyeliner to add more volume as you head out because the desire for more magnificence is so great. Avoid doing this. The product gets caught and builds up between your lashes. This makes cleaning considerably more difficult and could cause early lash loss and other eye problems.

If you insist on applying mascara or eyeliner, make sure it is a water-based brand. But be careful when taking off your makeup at the end of the day. No oil-based makeup-removal products.

4. Don’t pick at them

Your extensions will initially feel strange, but after a few days, you ought to feel more at ease with them. But don't pick at them or attempt to take them out yourself, no matter how strange it feels. You'll only break or damage your actual lashes.

5. Don’t use eyelash curlers

Your extensions could be harmed or pulled out.

6. Do Brush Your Eyelashes

Say hello to your lashes' new best friends! A mascara wand. After a long or windy day, it's typical for lash extensions to get a bit wonky. You must therefore carry a spoolie or mascara wand at all times. By doing this, you can avoid stressing your lashes and prevent the improper direction growth of your natural lashes.

7. Do sleep on your back

Your eyelashes may be crushed if you sleep on your side or stomach, shortening their lifespan. Instead of sleeping on your stomach that squishes your lashes, sleep on your back. If you’re a face sleeper, you should definitely take this into consideration.

8. Do sleep on a satin pillowcase

If you’re a face sleeper, we might just have the right solution for you. You should sleep on a satin pillow to protect your extensions from the night's perils.

Cotton has a reputation for grabbing hold of your hair and twisting it from the roots. Avoiding abrasive objects and purchasing a pillowcase made of a frictionless material, like as silk, are the best ways to cure this issue.

9. Do Let Your Lashes Air Dry

There are three different ways to dry out your eyelash extensions. You can air-dry, use a blow dryer with low air pressure and chilly air setting (but be careful not to hold it too close to your natural lashes because doing so could harm your extensions), or gently tap your lash line at the base with a cloth.

If you want your eyelash extensions to last longer you should take great care of them. However, great aftercare does not mean it will last a lifetime. As with your natural lashes, your lash extensions will progressively fall out over time. Do not be alarmed; this is very natural.

To fill up any gaps and keep your lashes appearing full and fabulous, we advise making an eyelash extension refill appointment after 2 or 3 weeks.
